Tree trimming fatality

A tree worker died on Tuesday after he was thrown from the platform he was working from in the Lane Poole reserve of the Dwelling up state forest near Waroona, to the south of Perth, in Western Australia.

The man, Peter John Broad, 41, was working from a small trailer lift when a tree limb that had been cut above him, fell into the fibreglass bucket of the trailer lift seriously damaging it and causing it to overturn throwing Broad to the ground. The emergency services were called, but by the time they arrived it was too late. His work colleagues had tried to resuscitate him but failed.

Worksafe said inspectors will investigate the incident.
