German rental and heavy haulage company Richter Kran und Schwerlast has taken delivery of a 300 tonne Liebherr LTM 1300-6.4 All Terrain crane, the first unit worldwide to be delivered with the new Liccon3 control system.
The handover
The six axle, single engine crane – updated in May - features an eight section, 90 metre main boom topped by an 11.5 to 20 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, to which two seven metre inserts can be added between the boom nose and swingaway for a tip height of 121 metres. Other features include the Variobase Plus outrigger set up system which offers a wider more variable rear outrigger spread - up to 9.4 metres - as well as AutoBallast.

Richter Kran will primarily use the crane for tower crane assembly, infrastructure projects such as energy supply and the construction of electricity pylons and wind power work. The crane's first job will be unloading components for wind turbines at the Baalberge wind farm for two weeks, before heading to Leipzig to dismantle a tower crane in a rear courtyard.

Owner Matthias Richter said: "In order to close the gap between the LTM 1250 and the LTM 1450, as a future oriented company we obviously wanted to integrate the LTM 1300-6.4 with its innovative Liccon3 control system into our fleet. The new LTM 1300-6.4 also cuts a fine figure visually."
Matthias Richter started off as a 'one man band' in 2007 with a single loader crane, setting up Richter Kran und Schwerlast that same year in Grimma, central Germany, he initially focused on transporting building materials. Then in 2016 he purchased his first mobile crane, a Liebherr, an LTF 1060-4.1 truck mounted crane, which he still uses to help build wind turbine foundations. He added two more Liebherr’s - the LTM 1070-4.2 and an LTM 1090-4.2 - and by 2019, had 20 employees and was obliged to move to a new site in Leipzig.
The company now employs 55 and offers both transport and crane work. All the mobile cranes in the business are Liebherr topped by a 750 tonne LTM 1750-9.1 purchased second hand.
