Terex Explorer for Benson

US based rental company Benson Crane Service has taken delivery of a 130 tonne Terex Explorer 5500 All Terrain crane.

The five axle crane has a 60 metre main boom with a 11 to 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, which can offset up to 40 degrees. A 12 metre insert can also be used to extend it to 33 metres. The Explorer 5500 was delivered by local dealer Empire Crane Company, and is currently erecting steel for the Queens City Lofts project in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Benson Crane Service general manager Jim Benson said: “The reach was impressive for the size of the crane. To have a mobile crane with that much boom easily puts our business into a more competitive category.”

Established around 10 years ago, Benson Crane Service is located in Saugerties, New York and has a fleet of cranes ranging from 13 to 125 tonnes.
