Arjun Mirdha moves to Genie

10. October 2017 | Comments (0)

Genie has appointed ex JCB America CEO Arjun Mirdha as chief commercial officer. In his new role he will have global responsibility for sales, marketing, parts and service etc... and will be based at Genie headquarters in Redmond, Washington.

Mirdha left JCB in April after 21 years with the company. He joined JCB from Ernst & Young in 1996 as a business management manager at its Rocester plant in the UK. He then moved the USA for a five year stint in sales and dealer development, moving to JCB India in 2004 where he looked after product support and then business development. His next move took him back to JCB America in 2011 as vice president sales and marketing, becoming chief operating officer for the American operation in 2012, and chief executive in January 2014.

Genie president Matt Fearon said: “The Genie brand has a leading reputation and position in the global marketplace, and in this new role, Arjun’s goal will be to grow our organisation and opportunities in all the industries we serve. As chief commercial officer, Arjun will have an immediate focus on addressing our customers’ needs, including implementing unified solutions that expand on our commitment to be easier to do business with. His experience in the industry will play a vital role in developing deeper customer relationships and improving our commercial operations capability worldwide.”

Mirdha added: “I am pleased to be joining the Genie team. With a strong presence and outstanding reputation in the aerial and rental industries, the Genie brand is well known worldwide. I look forward to continuing on the company’s legacy of bringing innovative products to the marketplace, growing market share and leading our future customer solutions initiatives.”

Vertikal Comment

This is a very interesting move and begs a number of questions which are unlikely to ever be answered, such as did Mirdha leave JCB with this job in mind? Or did Terex simply take advantage of him becoming available, in order to benefit from his expertise in areas where it will be looking to expand, such as India and the telehandler market?

It also brings all of the customer facing parts of the business together, under one very senior individual whose overall responsibility is to customer service. Another advantage of the appointment is that the company gains an additional high profile and well qualified candidate for succession planning.
