250t Liebherr for Knoll

German crane rental company Knoll has taken delivery of a 250 tonne LTM 1250-5.1 All Terrain crane.

The five axle crane features a 60 metre main boom and a hydraulic luffing bi-fold swingaway extension, which can be extended to 50 metres with inserts, all of which can offset by up to 45 degrees. The new crane replaces a five year old 220 tonne LTM 1220-5.2, and will be used for various jobs including concrete module assembly with part weights of around 30 tonnes.

Managing director Hans-Peter Knoll said: "We always buy the most powerful five axle crane on the market. The new crane will replace an LTM 1220-5.2 which is only five years old. We would have kept this crane because we have plenty of work and normally we keep our cranes for longer. But the problem we have at the moment is finding good crane drivers. We decided on the LTM 1250-5.1 because of its modern technology and good value for money."

Knoll has a workforce of around 40 and operates 28 cranes, 21 of which are from Liebherr.
