Hiab's new recycling crane

Loader crane manufacturer Hiab has launched the new Jonsered 1200RS crane for recycling/sand and gravel work at the IAA in Hanover.

The new 11.3 tonne/metre crane is designed for collecting and removing residue material from digging applications. It is also used for the transport and delivery of sand and gravel.

Safety features in the 1200RS include the Variable Stability Limit (VSL) function, that automatically senses how far the stabiliser legs are extended and whether they are firmly in contact with the ground. A new twin stand-up platform allows the operator to work from either side of the column. The crane also includes the Operator Protection System which creates a ‘virtual protection cage’ that electronically prevents the boom from entering this restricted space.

Vice president of forestry cranes Jon Lopez said: "In the rapidly urbanising world, efficiency in recycling is becoming more and more important. Collecting and removing residue material needs to be safe and fast when working in an urban environment. The equipment has to be reliable and durable so that the operator can work efficiently. Our response to these demands is the new Jonsered 1200 RS recycling crane."

Senior product portfolio manager Toni Ahvenlampi added: "The total cost of ownership is a focal area in our new product development. In this crane we have made a variable pump available as an option, which enables lower fuel consumption, as well as a longer oil life thanks to lower oil temperatures. Another priority was to ensure a safe, ergonomic and well-functioning working environment for the crane operator."
