Iraqi contract win for ALE

ALE has been awarded an exclusive supply contract for lifting and moving operations at the new Karbala Refinery project in Central Iraq.

The contract includes the supply of around 50 crawler and Rough Terrain cranes along with the management of heavy lifting and transport operations. The company will be responsible for the haulage of approximately 45 loads, each weighing up to 250 tonnes.

The $6.04 billion Karbala oil refinery is located around 100km from Baghdad and will have a capacity of 140,000 barrels a day. It will produce liquefied gas, gasoline, gas oil, fuel oil, jet fuel and asphalt to international standards. Construction began in 2014, and is due to be completed in 2019.

ALE’s general manager in Iraq Alberto Pittaluga said: “We are delighted to support Iraq in the Holy City of Karbala and we hope that our involvement will successfully contribute to the execution and completion of this strategic project for the growth of the country.”
