Crane boom collapse in Atlanta

A crawler crane boom came down on the site of a multi storey car park in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, yesterday. Thankfully there were no injuries.

The crane simply dropped its boom

The boom of the crane - a Manitowoc owned by Buckner, the steel erecting crane and rigging company – struck a boom lift as it came down before coming to rest on the building. Contractor JE Dunn Construction has issued a statement confirming that no one was hurt and saying: "We have shut down the site to conduct a full accident investigation and determine the cause."
