New Genie SX-150

Genie will unveil a new 150ft telescopic boom lift at The Rental Show in New Orleans later today.

Full details will be released in a few hours when the show opens, but the new model will retain the innovative three metre articulating and rotating jib of the SX-180, but uses fewer boom sections than the 180.

The new Genie SX-150

The 150 will offer four programmable platform height settings of 150, 135, 120 and 100ft to aid rental versatility and rental rate maximisation. It will reach its full 48 metre working height in under three minutes. It includes a platform capacity of 340kg, and over 24 metres of outreach – 21 metres at a height of 36 metres. Overall weight is a manageable 23 tonnes.

Other features will include a standard 7.5kW on-board generator to power tools, including welders. The boom uses the same chassis as the SX-180 and ZX-135 boom lifts, and is powered by a Deutz Tier 4 final engine with no regen or Diesel Particulate Filter. The rotating jib offers 60 degrees of horizontal movement – 30 degrees either side of the main boom. The hydraulic system principally comprises hydraulic tubes, rather than hoses, and a four stage hydraulic filtration system.

Karen Stash, senior director, global product management and marketing said: “We are continuing to answer unmet customer needs by adding value to our Super Boom product line with the new SX-150. We consider this boom lift to be a ‘versatile workhorse’ that is tremendously durable for challenging environments. “It is a cost effective choice to reach challenging jobsite applications while still ensuring the quality and reliability Genie customers have come to expect.”

Adam Hailey, booms product manager, added: “Genie products are known for their serviceability, and the SX-150 boom lift is no exception. This product was designed with the service tech in mind. All manifolds offer easy wrench access while a swing out engine tray provides easy service for maintenance access. The boom features easy to reach hydraulic filters, with a drop-in, in-tank filter for easy cleaning and replacement, as well as bulk-headed hydraulic lines so hoses can be removed and replaced in one piece. A boom extend system features a cylinder and wire rope cartridge for fast service or replacement.”

Genie will also use the Rental show to launch the ANSI/CSA versions of the Z62/40 and Z33/18 articulating boom lifts, along with the ANSI version of the 40ft slab electric GS4047 scissor lift. For more details on what is happening at the show keep an eye on our twitter feed.
