New commercial director for A-Plant

Ashtead’s UK rental business A-Plant has announced the appointment of Dave Harris as commercial director

Harris will be responsible for moving A-Plant’s overall strategy forward, developing further business with the company’s major accounts and becoming involved in merger and acquisition activity. In his new role he reports directly to chief executive Sat Dhaiwal.

Dave Harris

Until July, Harris was employed by A-Plant competitor Speedy having spent eight years with the company in a number of senior positions, including managing director of Speedy Services, business development director and most recently commercial director.

He began his career in the retail sector with Burger King and then Odeon Cinemas where he spent 15 years, culminating as managing director. He then moved to Airtours for five years.

Speaking of his job he said: "I am really excited about my new role at A-Plant. The company operates a number of different divisions, such as A-Plant Accommodation, FLG Services, Leada Acrow, PSS Hire and Eve Trakway, and this role will allow me to work directly alongside the respective leaders of those businesses. It's a great challenge and I'll look forward to adding value where I can and creating additional synergies between the different businesses."

Dhaiwal added: "We are absolutely delighted that Dave has joined the A-Plant team at such an exciting time. Not only has he got vast experience in the hire industry, he has also held very senior positions at major blue chip companies, so no doubt he will be able to utilise this experience to the benefit of A-Plant."
