Harnesses saves two

Two operators working on a boom lift in Moline, Illinois, yesterday were saved by their harness yesterday after what looks like a platform levelling cylinder failure.

The two men were using a Genie Z-135/70 boom lift to carry out work on the First Lutheran Church’s tower at a height of 30 metres when a failure occurred in the platform levelling circuit causing the aerial lift’s platform to tip forward 90 degrees.

Fortunately both men were wearing a harness and lanyard and within 30 minutes the Rock Island Arsenal Firefighters were able to rescue the stranded men using an aerial ladder platform.
