First Genie Trax in Austria

Austrian rental company HBV Arbeitsbühnen Vermietung has acquired the first Genie S-65 Trax self-propelled telescopic boom lift in Austria.

The new machine's first job was to assist with roof repairs on an isolated mountain chalet, with no road or track to the building only a steep approach that would have been a challenge to reach with a normal lift.

Christoph Nussbacher of HBV, said: “Before repairs could begin, the machine had to be unloaded in a meadow lower down the valley. Our customer needed a unit that could be driven directly up a 45-percent incline, without damaging the landscape, and that could also be safe to drive on uneven ground. The chalet was built into a hollow in the slope - a common practice here that serves as protection against winter winds, rain and snow. A fragile glass conservatory attached to the front of the building also demanded a machine equipped with a long boom that could extend far enough to reach the chalet’s gables, in addition to requiring our customer’s team to work with extra caution.”

Once set up on the only sufficiently level area of ground around the building, the S-65 Trax was telescoped to its maximum 17.1 metres to reach over the hollow and conservatory to carry out the work.

The Genie S-65 Trax faces its first job

“Thanks to its innovative four point track drive and oscillating axle, the Genie S-65 Trax boom lift made easy work of the incline," adds Nussbacher. "Our customer remarked on how intuitive it was to drive, and how smooth it was to operate. The team made such good progress that they completed their assignment in two days instead of the three days that were initially planned."

"This machine has proved to be a very good investment, in fact, it’s in such demand that you will be lucky to catch it in the yard. 'Everything is possible' is our company motto, so it is well-suited to our customers’ needs and profitable for our business.”

HBV Arbeitsbühnenvermietung is based in Feldkirchen, near Graz and was founded in 2009 by owner and managing director Wilfried Nussbacher together with his brother and business partner Wilhelm Zeppek. It now operates a fleet of 125 machines, a third of which are Genie.
