Liebherr cranes to Russia

Two Liebherr panamax STS cranes are now operational in Vladivostok, Russia. The company has also taken orders for more STS cranes to be delivered to Novorossiysk and St. Petersburg.

The two cranes have been delivered to the JSC Commercial port of Vladivostok and join a pair of Liebherr RMG cranes in operation since 2011.
The new STS cranes have an outreach of 38 metres, a back reach of 11 metres and have a span of 15.3 metres. The 60 tonne twinlift cranes have a spreader height over rail of 28 metres and all AC drives are Liebherr. Both cranes feature remote diagnostics which can be accessed from the port or from the Liebherr Container Cranes service department in Ireland.

Liebherr has also taken an order to deliver a second post panamax crane to JSC Nutep in Novorossiysk - identical to a previous Liebherr STS crane commissioned in 2009. The 50 tonne capacity unit has an outreach of 46 metres, a backreach of 15 metres and a span of 15.24 metres. Features include remote diagnostics and a crane to crane anti-collision system. The proprietary Liebherr crane management system, Visuscan will be localised with a Russian user interface as is standard on all Liebherr container cranes supplied to Russia.

In St. Petersburg, Liebherr has signed a major contract with OJSC Petrolesport to supply three 50 tonne capacity panamax ship to shore cranes. The new ship to shore cranes will join 10 Liebherr RTG’s (model RT 6/5/4/ws) already at the port and five further Liebherr RTG’s (model RT 7/5/4/ws) which are scheduled for delivery over the next few months.

“The last number of years has seen Liebherr Container Cranes gain significant market share in Russia,” said Liebherr product manager Paul Bolger. “We have received numerous repeat orders for both our ship to shore and stacking cranes from east, west and southern Russia.”
