A loader crane overturned onto a private home in Wigan, UK, on Saturday, crashing through the roof.
The crane, a PM, was lifting a shipping container from a field next to the home when it went over. The crane was short rigged on the one side, causing the overturn. A child was playing under the load as the crane went over, with the whole thing captured on the door bell camera - see below.
A spokesperson from the local fire and emergency services said: “At around 10:30am today, firefighters were called to reports of a crane that had fallen through the side of a residential property in Atherton, Wigan. Greater Manchester Police established a cordon on the street, while firefighters worked to isolate the gas and electricity to the property and clear spilled fuel from the roadway.”
"The scene has now been left with GMP and the crane operating company to arrange recovery of the crane. The occupants are being supported by the local authority to find temporary accommodation."

There are many factor that attributed to this accident, poor planning, no supervision, probably no notification of the works taking place to the local authorities, no road closure, no safety zone, outriggers not extended on the off side when having to slew the load over the front of the machine due to the trees, large surface area of the load, weather conditions, a very windy day.
Thankfully the young child was unharmed and there was no vehicles passing or other members of the general public in the vicinity.

So the genius, with all of his safety classes, and all of the modern safety devices, managed to move the load on the opposite side of the extended stabilisers. Many things to explain... God will the little girl and the mother could escape without consequences
