Fatal jib drop

A man died on Wednesday afternoon when the jib of a crane came down on him at a construction site in Recklinghausen, Germany.

By the time the Recklinghausen fire department arrived, the man, 43, had already been freed, but showed no sign of life and was declared dead at the scene.
Several of those working alongside the man, were in a state of shock and required treatment by the paramedics.

We were unable to confirm the type of crane, although the emergency services terminology suggests a self-erecting tower crane. We will update this when we learn more.
