Wire rope failure kills three

Three men working on a construction site in the Demra suburb of Dhaka, Bangladesh died on Saturday, following a crane that dropped its load. Two others were seriously injured and remain in hospital.

It seems that the crane was lifting building materials and using some sort of stillage or platform while working on a five storey residential complex when the rope failed, dropping the loaded stillage onto those working below.

The police stated that legal action will be taken against those who are responsible for the incident.
