More Liebherrs for Ideal

US based Ideal Crane Rental has ordered three Liebherr All Terrain cranes, a 450 tonne LTM 1450-8.1, 180 tonne LTM 1160-5.2 and 100 tonne LTM 1100-5.2.

The eight axle LTM 1450-8.1 can travel complete with its 85 metre main boom, along with outriggers and hoist within 12 tonne axle loads, and becomes the company’s ‘flagship’ crane. The five axle LTM 1160-5.2 features a 62 metre main boom and 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, and replaces an older LTM 1160-5.2 model. The five axle LTM 1100-5.2 features a six section 52 metre main boom and a 10.8 to 33 metre bi-fold swingaway extension and replaces another 100 tonne crane in the company’s fleet. The cranes, ordered at Bauma, are due to arrive over the summer.

Liebherr LTM 1450-8.1

President Bob Kalhagen said: “The LTM 1450-8.1 will be our largest crane. We really liked what we saw with the Liebherr variable counterweight, variable outrigger base and other options. The LTM 1160-5.2 has been a great, dependable crane, but we liked a lot of new features on the new 1160-5.2. Those features include the two position counterweight, a rigging jib and not needing cheek weights. There were so many things we liked about the new crane we decided to upgrade.”
