16. April 2019 | Comments (0)

Haulotte has released its first quarter sales results, with shipments up 17 percent compared to the same quarter in 2018, at €163.2 million - its highest quarterly revenues in 10 years.

New equipment sales increased 19 percent on the same period in 2018, while Parts and Service activity grew by four percent and rental revenues 10 percent.
European revenues were 20 percent higher with increased revenues in almost all countries, except the UK.

North American sales also grew by 20 percent, thanks to a sharp rebound in BilJax scaffold sales - aerial work platform shipments improved by a more modest four percent.

South America continued to recover with sales jumping 21 percent, driven mainly by a ‘bounce back’ in Brazil.

Asia Pacific was the only region where the company experienced lower sales, with shipments declining three percent, thanks to a slowdown in the Middle East and Turkey, partially offset by higher sales in Australia.

Vertikal Comment

All in all a very good start to the year for Haulotte, and particularly interesting to see scaffold sales bounce back, possibly thanks to a good ARA Show this year and following substantially lower purchases from its dealers over the past year or two which caused inventory levels to fall.

The company might well be ahead of the pack in Brazil which is definitely showing signs of recovery, but at the same time seeing a relatively sluggish platform market. In Turkey it is clearly suffering along with most other manufacturers, thanks to the political turmoil in the country and a weak currency. The UK however – while facing its own political chaos and challenges should have been more positive. Most of Haulotte’s competitors have reported strong sales growth over the past three months or so, in spite of all the uncertainty – There may well be other factors at play in Haulotte’s lower UK sales?

All said and done a great start to the year.
