JCB to add plant in India

JCB is to invest £65 million in building a new fabrication facility in Vadodara, India, its sixth plant in the country.

The new 44 acre site is located near the port city of Surat on the west coast, and will fabricate parts for use worldwide, as part of a plan to increase capacity. The company says it will be capable of processing 85,000 tonnes of steel a year. Production is expected to begin next year.

Chairman Lord Bamford said: “With major investment in manufacturing capacity in the UK and India, we are very well placed to grow our business in the future. This year we celebrate 40 years in India and our success over those four decades is down to our continual investment. It’s fitting that we mark the 40th anniversary with an investment in a factory which will give us enormous manufacturing capacity.”

JCB India managing director Vipin Sondhi added: “For 40 years JCB has remained committed to India. The decision to build a new world class factory at Vadodara builds on JCB’s commitment to India. The chosen site is strategically important because it is located close to a major sea port which allows efficient transportation.”

What a pity the major sea port which allows for efficient transportation isn't going to be used for goods-INWARD. Lord Bamford could have given those jobs to the UK. Not only did he not do that, he's also still supporting that lost-cause of 'Brexit', just to kick his country a bit harder.
I've got nothing against the bloke or the company, but combining his actions and his beliefs, right at the moment, is like another Dyson moving to Singapore or Jim Radcliffe nipping off to Monte Carlo.
