JLG expands BIM offering

JLG has expanded its Building Information Modelling (BIM) library, which now includes the company’s spider lift range.

The BIM library features 3D model based process to give architecture and constractors the insight and tools to plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructure projects. The expansion means the full JLG product line is available for download from the BIM website, with select models available directly through JLG’s website.

JLG’s BIM models are created internally by JLG, which it says ensures that users have the benefit of specifications that look and act as the real equipment would on the job, in addition to allowing JLG to keep models up to date.

Chief engineer Neil Doherty said: “BIMobject is an ideal partner for JLG because both companies continue to be at the forefront of innovation for this technology. The company offers a steady flow of visitors to their site and a high penetration of registered users who actively view and download BIM models.”

Global vice president, product management and development Guru Bandekar added: “BIM continues to transform the traditionally siloed architecture, engineering and construction disciplines to enhance communication and integrate workflows. BIM helps improve collaboration among teams and gives greater design insight through the entire building life cycle from concept to demolition or renovation. All models in the library are available and downloadable in a data rich format, giving everyone in the construction value chain access to this valuable tool.”
