Dawson moves to Power Towers

Jonathan Dawson has been appointed managing director of JLG’s Power Towers subsidiary. He was previously senior director sales – Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

He takes over from founder and previous owner Brian King, who moves to a new role as chairman of the JLG low level access R&D and Product Development Board. He will be joined by Mark Richardson the lead engineer at Power Towers, and will take responsibility for all new low level access products and business development, working closely with both Power Towers and JLG. Sandra King will retain her tole within Power Towers with responsibility for the administration team.

Brian King


Dawson joined JLG from Merlo in 2006, initially to head up the European telehandler business as director sales and customer support- telehandlers. In 2010 he was promoted to senior director sales and customer support for the regional distribution network and moved into his previous role in mid 2013.
JLG acquired UK based Power Towers in June 2015 and has run the business - which is based in Leicester, UK – on a largely stand alone basis until now. Click here to see JLG acquires Power Towers

Laurent Montenay takes over Dawson’s role as senior director of sales for the region. He joined JLG as an area sales manager in 2006. Having previously worked in a similar role with Komatsu Europe. In 2009 he was appointed director of sales and product support Southern Europe for the Caterpillar Alliance Group within JLG. In 2012 he was appointed as managing director of JLG Germany, including Austria and Switzerland. More recently he took over responsibility for France.

Karel Huijser JLG general manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East said: “Power Towers was acquired in 2015 being a very strong business and they have continued that success. We are now ready for the next phase of integration and global expansion of their unique portfolio. The intention is to leverage the JLG organisation, drive synergies and expand the footprint.”

King added: “Both Mark and I welcome this further step in Power Towers’ development, we have grown over 100 percent since acquisition and this move will accelerate this still further by leveraging JLG’s true global presence and resources. With Jonathan leading the day to day management of Power Towers we can focus on what we enjoy most which is new product development, continuing to work very closely with our customers.”
