25 years for Warren Access

UK regional powered access rental company Warren Access is celebrating 25 years in business.

Warren Access was established in 1993 after Derek Warren, 53, was laid off following 28 years with rental company Marshall Branson, where he was general manager of the plant and access division. He used his redundancy to purchase two second hand Acklift van mounted platforms and both went straight out on rent to the local council, the rest is, as they say history. In 2005 the company was subject to a takeover approach, which prompted Warren senior to consider the idea of retiring after 45 years in the access industry. So he began the process to bringing his son and daughter in law into the business full time.

In 2009, the company became an accredited IPAF training centre. by Derek Warren and son Graeme, the company is now run by Graeme and his wife Michelle, with 12 employees at its depots in Newcastle, north east England and Huntingdon, southern England. Its fleet consists of van and truck mounted platforms, scissor lifts, self propelled booms and spider lifts.

In 2010 Warren moved to larger premises in Newcastle, and then in 2013 opened its Huntingdon depot. This year Derek Warren has finally taken the plunge and decided to retire, some 13 years after having begun the process.

Graeme Warren said: “Our business has been built on looking after clients with honesty and integrity. That’s not going to change, even though Derek has now retired. We wish Derek a happy retirement, he really deserves it, he’s worked so hard to build this company with the right priorities. Our customers and their safety always come first, and we’ll continue to run the business with the same ethos. I’m sure Derek will still pop in now and again, just to check up on us!”
