Accès Industrie acquires Matelev

French rental company Access Industrie has acquired Matelev an access and telehandler rental and maintenance company based in the Loire valley.

The move comes a year after Accès Industrie was delisted following the acquisition of a majority stake by Parquest Capital, while CM-CIC Investissement and IRDI acquired minority holdings.

Matelev was established in 1986 to rent and maintain aerial work platforms and other lifting equipment and is owned by Vincent Robert and Stéphane Thibault. Based in Meung-sur-Loire between Blois and Orléans, the company covers the central region as far as Châteaudun in the north, Bourges in the south, Tours in the west and Gien in the east. It runs a fleet of almost 800 machines with revenues last year of €7.5 million. The fleet is quite diverse with JLG, Genie, Haulotte and Manitou machines, as well as Power Towers low level units. On the sales side it is a Dieci telehandler dealer.

Accès Industrie currently operates from 29 branches, and last year, added a sales subsidiary -Accès Industrie Sales.

Access chairman Eric Lacombe said: "This first acquisition marks another step in the development project initiated a year ago with the entry of our new shareholders. Since then, we have benefited from new resources to finance an era of sustainable growth that includes the renewal and expansion of our fleet of machines and external growth to integrate new skills.”

Vertikal Comment

This looks like a good move on the part of Accès Industrie and its new owners, the two principle managers Eric Lacombe and Pascal Maynard have been busy using the company’s improved/more stable financial position to give the business a strong base and have been fortunate that the overall economic position has also improved. It seems they are now ready to start building the business again and expand market share etc..

You can be sure that the two big players in France – Loxam and Kiloutou will be watching closely while they focus on expanding outside of France.
