16. August 2018 | Comments (6)

We have confirmed that Andrew Winter, operations director at UK based Ainscough Heavy Cranes, has left the company.

He is reported to have been suffering from ill health in recent months and is currently away from the business and will not return. His role will be handled on an interim basis by Peter Gibbs.

Winter, 57, joined the company in 2012 from Tadano distributor Cranes UK See Winter moves to Ainscough He had previously run his own crane rental company Winterlift, which struggled in the recession and called it a day in 2010. He was promoted in 2016 shortly after chief executive Janet Entwhistle arrived - the promotion was seen as a highly positive appointment which boded well for the business and Entwhistle's feel for the sort of managers that the company needed.

An internal announcement from chief executive Janet Entwhistle said: “Andrew Winter, operations director for Heavy Cranes has decided to leave the business to pursue other opportunities. As many of you will be aware, Andrew is presently unwell and absent from work. He will therefore not be returning prior to his departure from the business. The Heavy Cranes team will therefore continue to report into Peter Gibbs in the short term.”

“Over the last six years, Andrew has helped make heavy cranes a successful division of Ainscough Crane Hire, which we will now continue to build on. I would like to thank Andrew for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Oh dear, yet another, and one of the very few, people left in Ainscough who actually knows anything about the crane hire industry. Such a shame that these people aren't valued by the company and allowed to potentially seep out into the competition. All the expertise and "know how" has either gone or is going. It's a shambles and no-one has a good word to say about the place. Andrew Winter is a great guy and hopefully he will make a good recovery. Let's see where he pops up in the industry and good luck Ainscough when that happens!!

Have worked with Andrew at Ainscough, Baldwin?s, Hewden Stuart, and Winterlift, shows what I think of him and his ability. I think Ainscough will miss him enormously. I wish you all the best for the future and sure you will be successful in whatever you end up doing , but am too old now to work with you again
All the best

First of all let me wish Mr Winter better health and hope he feels better very soon. Mr Winter was my manager when I had the pleasure of working at Ainscough heavy cranes and him leaving will be a massive blow to the department and the company due to he was the only guy left in the company that actually had any experience in running a crane company. All the best for what ever you do in the future Andrew.
