We can now confirm that a man died while loading a boom lift at the JLG Deutschland premises in Ritterhude, Germany late last month.

The incident took the life of Guido Kurlemann, 53 - an 18 year JLG veteran - on Tuesday July 24th. At the time, the local police issued a statement stating that the boom lift slipped off of a ramp while it was being loaded and that the resulting whiplash effects in the basket, resulted in him sustaining serious head injuries from which he succumbed, he was declared dead at the scene. A full investigation is ongoing.

Karel Huijser, general manager of JLG Europe issued the following statement:
“It is with great regret that I inform you that on the 24th of July there was a fatal incident at our JLG facility in Bremen, Germany. The incident involved Guido Kurlemann, a long time JLG employee and service supervisor at the facility.”

“According to the information available, while Guido was loading a customer’s boom lift from the ramp onto trailer of a truck, the boom lift fell between the trailer and the ramp, while Guido was in the platform. Our understanding is that Guido sustained fatal injuries as a result. An investigation involving the competent authorities is ongoing.”

“Guido spent 18 years of his career with JLG Germany. He was a supportive and well respected colleague and to many a friend. His professional knowledge, humour and personal engagement will be missed.
