Ladybird acquires Whitney Engineering

In its 25th year, Whitney Engineering, the UK Dealer for Secatol lifting equipment, has relocated from Stafford to Redditch as part of a new investment in the business by the Ladybird Crane Group.

Whitney’s David Winterborn, one of the original founders of the business in 1993, will continue to run the sales and rental operation. The company will kick off its new relationship by showing its range of lifting gear and tipping skips at this year’s Vertikal Days show.

Winterborn said: “I am really pleased to see this new investment in the Whitney Engineering. We pioneered the introduction of innovative, high quality concrete skips and lifting gear in the UK over 20 years ago and have provided an excellent service to our customers ever since. With retirement on the horizon it was time to find a new home for the business and the move to Redditch has been a natural fit.”

Robert Bird, managing director of Ladybird Crane added: “We have worked closely with David and Whitney Engineering since 2004 and know from experience the quality of the Secatol equipment and the service that Whitney provide. It is a strong brand with an excellent reputation which we will keep distinct within the group whilst we look to expand the business from our new purpose built facility in Redditch.”
