Buying a used crane

The shortage of good used cranes available for sale in Europe is desperate, aerial lifts and telehandlers are marginally better but still limited. The Ritchie’s Auction in Spain later this month, is highly unusual in that it has at least 10 cranes most dating from 2000.

The cranes on sale include a 2001 400 tonne Demag AC400, a 160 tonne Liebherr LTM1160, a 2001 80 tonne Demag AC80 some 50 tonne Demag AC50s and a number of 20,28, 30 and 35 tonne Groves, PPM and Liebherr two axle AT’s.

If you are looking to sell cranes then it is always best to go with an auction where a good number of units of marketable are already on the block, as this will then attract more crane bidders and result in better prices.

In terms of telehandlers there are a number of unused Terex models, and a small selection of other used models from various producers, all in all a typical Ritchie selection.

Aerial lifts are also much the same as is usual these days...a handful of 80 ft booms from JLG and Grove and some Iteco Scissors.

No it is the cranes that stand out at this auction, and you don’t need to go to Spain to bid, although as it is Valencia it might be a good excuse!

You can find the details on all the auctions in our event guide a link for which is located in the top left hand margin of this page.
