New head of Tech & Safety for IPAF

IPAF (the International Powered Access Federation) has confirmed the appointment Andrew Delahunt as head of its global Technical & Safety department.

He will join the organisation from Haulotte, where he has been global homologation & safety and manager since moving to France in 2015. He was previously based in Melbourne where he was regional product safety manager for the manufacturers's Australian subsidiary, having joined the business in 2011. Before that he worked as a design engineer for Volgren Australia, having moved to the company in 2006, from Kenworth trucks where he was an applications engineer.

IPAF chief executive Tim Whiteman said: “We are delighted to announce Andrew’s appointment. IPAF is a global leader on safety and the go to organisation in the powered access industry when it comes to technical guidance and developing and interpreting new safety standards. It was vital to appoint the right person to this role to ensure our members continue to be heard and have influence when it comes to setting technical and safety standards around the globe.”

“Once Andrew takes up the role, IPAF’s Technical & Safety Department will again be fully staffed and will continue to provide an invaluable resource to members and to support IPAF in its ongoing mission to ensure powered access is as safe and effective as it can possibly be.”

Delahunt added: “I am thrilled to accept this role. The work IPAF does is absolutely critical and I believe I will be able to bring skills and experience garnered over many years in the industry to help move the global technical and safety agenda forward. My background as a qualified engineer with a major manufacturer will provide a useful perspective for my IPAF colleagues, as we are seeing increasingly sophisticated technical specifications, capabilities and standards across our industry. I look forward very much to taking up this new challenge in my career.”

Vertikal Comment

Word on this appointment has been circulating for a little while ‘down under’, but not confirmed until now. IPAF will be delighted to have recruited a person with such a broad based experience and skill set, both within the powered access industry and beyond.

It also adds another nationality to the increasingly cosmopolitan IPAF team at a time when global standards are coming together, and new manufacturers from some of the emerging markets are gaining traction. Delahunt’s experience within the highly developed Australian market will also add an additional insight for the federation.
