Ashtead acquires Kier Hoist business and reports strong third quarter growth

The UK based division of Ashtead - A-Plant has acquired Kier Construction’s hoist business along with a five year supply contract.

The asset purchase deal includes all relevant equipment and ongoing business of the Kier hoist division, which will be incorporated into GB Access, A-Plant’s specialist personnel and materials hoist sales and rental operation. The acquired business provides hoist services to Kier as well as a number of third-party customers, and will continue uninterrupted.

Kier group strategy & corporate development director Claudio Veritiero said: “The new agreement builds on our existing framework with it now extended to cover telehandlers, lighting, generators, trackway, climate control equipment, hoists, specialist utilities equipment and powered access.”

A-Plant chief executive Sat Dhaiwal added: “We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Kier Group, through the acquisition of their hoist business and by extending the long standing trading relationship we have enjoyed over many years. We look forward to playing a leading role in providing support to all Kier operating divisions as they deliver their strategic growth plans over the next five years.”

Ashtead has also released third quarter results which show further strong growth in both Sunbelt and A-Plant with double digit revenue growth and pre-tax profits up between eight and nine percent. A full report on the results will be posted later today,
