£10k for Cancer Research

Employees of UK rental company A-Plant have raised £10,000 for Cancer Research UK, the company's charity partner for 2016.

A larger number of A-Plant employees across the country carried out wide range of fundraising activities to hit the target, ranging from charity bike rides and dress down days to cake sales and even a mini Olympics event to raise funds.

A-Plant marketing director Asif Latief said: “I would like to thank each and every one of them and their families for taking part in the activities. We are delighted to make this donation to Cancer Research UK to support the amazing work that it is doing in the fight against cancer.”

Katie Hesketh of Cancer Research added: “We are thrilled to receive this donation and extremely thankful for the hard work put in to raise such as large sum of money from the team at A-Plant. Not only have they raised this amazing amount they have raised a lot of awareness in the local community and highlighted the importance of fundraising.”

“Every day 112 people are diagnosed with cancer in the north west alone. We receive no government funding for our groundbreaking research, so money raised by supporters like A-Plant is crucial to help us beat cancer sooner. Research has led to an improved understanding of the biology and causes of cancer. This in turn has led to discovering better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured and we’re accelerating progress to see three in four people survive cancer, A-Plant has helped us to get closer to this, thank you.”
