Cycling to Apex

Andy Pearson of UK rental company Prolift Access is organising a charity bike ride to Apex in Amsterdam this May.

He will be joined by Giles Councell of IPAF, Barry Donaghy of Training-4-Safety and Donaghy’s daughter Katherine. Pearson is hoping that others might join them to raise funds for the Lighthouse Club which provides support to construction workers and their families. He can be contacted at Prolift Access on 01823 665902.

The ride is due to start on Saturday April 29th, arriving in Amsterdam on Monday May 1st, the day before the start of the show at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre.

Pearson has cycled for charity on a number of occasions, including a Lands End to John O’Groats ride in 2015 for Children’s Hospice South West Click here to see Land's End to John O'Groats.

Pearson said: "Day one is a 143 kilometre route. We start early at Royal Tunbridge Wells, heading for the ferry at Dover which will take in a short climb up to the top of the famous white cliffs. After crossing the English Channel, we'll cycle the short ride from Calais along the coast to Dunkirk for our first overnight stay."

"Day two takes in three countries over 125 kilometres. From Dunkirk, we'll head along the coast into Belgium and then inland towards Bruges. We'll finish the day by cycling into Holland for an overnight stop at Middelburg. The grand finale on day three is a 170 kilometre flat ride towards Amsterdam, passing Rotterdam and The Hague."

The Lighthouse Club began in 1956 and focuses on providing financial assistance, welfare and wellbeing advice and emotional and legal support to the construction industry. Donations can be made at www.lighthouseclub.org/donate.
