Sinoboom Europe confirmed

Chinese aerial lift manufacturer Sinoboom has launched Sinoboom Europe in Bergeijk, the Netherlands.

The new ‘venture’ is owned by Harold Amendt and Ludo Maenen, of Hoogwerkerstunter, which literally translates as work platform acrobat. The new company which officially launched two weeks ago will be responsible for the distribution of Sinoboom’s scissor, boom and spider lifts throughout Europe, with the objective to set up a dealer network.

It will also be responsible for providing a round the clock product support service and a 48-hour spare parts delivery service throughout Europe. The company is also in the process of setting up a new training centre and plans to be IPAF approved. The company will operate from the 3,500 square metre facility in Bergeijk, near Eindhoven.

The company said: “A great deal of hard work has been going on behind the scenes in China over the past three years, in order to ensure the machines comply with European legislation, mostly where safety is concerned. The aerial platforms are now CE, ISO, IAI, ADR and GOST certified and have been inspected by the SGS. All imported aerial platforms are given a pre-delivery inspection and a final check in Bergeijk.”

Sinoboom was established in 2007 and recently opened a new 200,000 square metre production facility in China, which it says is capable of producing 50 articulated boom lifts a month and up to 50 scissor lifts a day.

Harold Amendt and Ludo Maenen have been in the crane and aerial lift industry for several years now, and both came out of Kranenbouw, the tower crane company that went bankrupt in 2012. Amendt was financial controller from 2005 until it failed, while Maenen ran and partly owned Kranenbouw Platforms, which at one time was the Platform Basket dealer. The idea of becoming a master dealer for Sinoboom was initially mentioned at Apex 2011, but issues with CE certification have delayed that until now.

Since the demise of Kranenbouw the two established and built up Hoogwerkerstunter, a platform rental company which offers booms, scissors and spider lifts from the base in Bergeijk. This latest challenge will not be easy, acting as a master dealer for a manufacturer is a hard one, and only works when it has full support, including financial, of the manufacturer and when the dealers see that the master dealer offers real added value.
