Spot the Death Wish

While pulling some photographs from the archive to illustrate an article we spotted something that turned it into a Death Wish.

The picture from the archive dating back, we think, to 2005 or 2006 seemed ideal to illustrate the usefulness of articulating jibs and a bonus it had a crane in the background and the application was handy.

At first glance this looked like a great illustration of boom lifts in action....

However a closer inspection revealed that one of the boom lift users had climbed out of the platform and was clinging on to the steelworks while he fitted bolts. Not a great way to carry out such work and definitely a Death Wish- hopefully he lived to learn a better way… now back to the photo archive……

A closer look reveals a less than safe method of work

PS This is probably the last Death Wish before the Christmas break, so we would just like to thank all of you for sending your photos in, including those we have not used yet.

The series is read all over the world and frequently downloaded for use by safety officers and trainers to help make the crane and access world a safer place. Please keep them coming and in the meantime if you are celebrating Christmas we wish you a very happy holiday and all of you very prosperous and healthy year in 2012.
Best wishes
The Vertikal Team
