Andrew Winter joins Cranes UK

Andrew Winter, previously of Winterlift is joining Cranes UK the Tadano Faun dealer in the UK.

Winter, 49, officially joins the Tankersley, South Yorkshire based company next week as general manager reporting to joint owner and managing director Joe Lyon. The move is aimed to prepare the company for further expansion and the crane market picks up again.

Tadano Faun is continuing to introduce larger cranes, while Cranes UK has the potential to do more with its service and crane repair operation, as well as stepping up its efforts on the Tadano Rough Terrain and Broderson industrial crane lines.

Winter has spent his entire career until now in the crane hire business establishing his own company in partnership with Peter Winterburn in 1999.

Winterlift, ran a fleet that included a number of large telescopic cranes and went into administration earlier this year. The company was closed on appointment of the administrator and is currently being liquidated.

Winter told Vertikal.Net that he is very much looking forward to the move from rental to sales and service and that he had considered such a move a couple of times in his career. He started out as a crane operator at Sparrow Crane Hire in Milford Haven, with a short sojourn at Hewden’s, moving to Baldwin’s in 1987 – Ainscough in 1994 and then on his own in 1999.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company with great people and excellent products and to play a key role in helping build this already very successful business. I am looking forward to getting started and to meeting customers at Vertikal Days later this month,” said Winter.
