Bucket truck electrocution

A man died yesterday after coming into contact with overhead power lines while working on communication lines in Spalding County, due south of Atlanta, Georgia.

The man, 60, was working from a truck mounted platform/bucket truck, in a field alongside Highway 16 west of Griffin. The cables at that point run through a wooded area, and it seems he simply got too close to the live power lines and received a powerful shock. He was declared dead at the scene.

May the victim Rest In Peace. If he made the mistake of getting too close to power lines I hope his coworkers will study and learn how why and what made this incident happen. Accidents do not just happen...they are caused. The sooner more of us who W-A-H can learn these issues causes and safety parameters the safer our industry can work toward and hope to be. Condolences to his family and friends.
