Welcome to our video page, here we host a variety of films. Some are news related and attached to a news story – improving the coverage we provide, others are simply unusual or interesting videos whose subject matter includes aerial lifts, telehandlers or cranes and finally we also offer customers a hosting service for advertising videos for which we charge a small fee to help fund this service.

Crushed carThis video concerns a tandem lift that went wrong in Norway, we are not sure of when although we are told that it was very recent – March 2012? The one crane is clearly carrying too much of the load but recovers only to cause another issue. |
![]() |
When things go wrongThis video shows how using equipment that is on the border line of being big enough for the job, you need to have a ‘what-If’ plan in reserve… When lifting at height a plan that doesn’t end in disaster is often not possible as this video shows. |
![]() |
Bridge bashing in RussiaThis video from Russia shows a truck travelling with the boom of its telescopic loader crane in the raised position. It seems that the driver made the classic mistake of leaving the boom up, possibly due to not being able to stow it over the rear due to his load and it being a telescopic it may be too long to stow sideways? It might have gone over the front though? As you might imagine the inevitable happened. The music might take you back too... |

High City craneA challenging job in Zams, Austria involved the insertion of a larger number of 10 tonne concrete beams into an existing building. Crane company Felbermayer came up with a highly unusual solution, involving a tandem lift with a city crane on high blocks and another All Terrain crane, the two unloaded the beams from a truck and telescoped them into the building where a heavy fork truck took over the one end of the beam and manoeuvred it into place. We wonder about the rigidity of that high cribbing, and have to assume that the experienced planners form Felbermayer had secured them somehow? |

Balls on the FallsBelfast’s largest sculpture the Rise or ‘Balls on the Falls’ as it is known locally, has been completed thanks to the extensive use of aerial lifts and cranes. The 37.5 metre high by 30 metre wide sculpture uses 2,400 mild steel powder coated tubes and was designed by Wolfgang Buttress and originally conceived in 2009, but finally completed and erected in the third quarter of 2011. |

The Vespa hoistSaving effort and time when lifting loads or working at height is what we are all about. In many parts of the world the provision of the latest sophisticated equipment is often not an option. While it is without doubt a questionable solution we liked the simple hoist arrangement devised by the crew in this video. |

A lucky escapeThis video clip is quite shocking in more ways than one. Thankfully the two men involved had a miraculous escape. The two, caught on a security camera had assembled a large steel tower alongside a railway line and were pushing it into position when ….. it caught up in some high voltage overhead power lines. The predictable happened, but the two survived relatively uninjured. |

A warning to arboristsThe attached video clip is quite distressing – not visually - we thought long and hard before deciding to post it, however it shows how an experienced tree climber can make a mistake which can be catastrophic. The man is being filmed while preparing a quotation for a home owner when he falls. We understand that he broke his back and his foot. Safety authorities are attempting to limit climbing occasions when no alternative is available – not the case here. |

Harness saves the dayWe are told that this accident occurred in Columbia in August 2011. Two men using a scaffold tower to reach a steel beam which they then proceed to cut away from the building. The tower is too short and not really the right tool for the job. However thankfully both men are wearing harnesses with lanyards of a suitable length. So both survived intact. |

Changing the paint on a planeThe following video is a time lapse record of a United Boeing 777 being converted from the old livery to the new. Needless to say a large number of aerial lifts, both scissors and booms are used and the job is a great deal more involved than you might think. The music is good too. |

Lucky escape in RussiaThis video shows two men amazingly escape without injury after a crane accident caused by sloppy slinging and the wrong equipment. It typically demonstrates how short cuts usually end in long delays and expensive damage – thankfully this one, which occurred in June 2010 did not add death and injury to the list. |

Tandem lifts are trickyHere is another example of how easy it is for a tandem lift to go wrong. We are not sure where this was or when, but as the two cranes lifted the work boat into the water, the truck crane closest to us clearly took too much of the weight and consequently went over. The boat seems to have survived and we understand the operator escaped too. |

Wrecking bunnyAn unusual job for New York Crane and one of its Link Belt Rough Terrain Cranes. Strong message.. ‘You need the right tools to do the best job’ but really just a bit of fun. |

Front end loader lightingTwo men snapped in Warsaw, Poland in January 2011 using tractor and front end loader to work on street lights. This form of access is still widely used throughout Europe, in spite of its inefficiency and most of the dangers involved. Falls from such short cut access are exceptionally high and often fatal. A certain Death Wish. |
![]() |

How not to move a statueWhen a contractor was charged with moving a 100 year old statue in Brecht, Belgium, he clearly didn’t have a clue what he was doing and the damage caused is likely to cost more than the entire renovation budget for the square, one small part of which was the relocation of the statue! |

Nothing to do with cranesThis video is nothing to do with cranes or work platforms or telehandlers, however it is to do with being a little different and how that might work even when you r offering is normally of little interest. We also thought it might bring a smile to your face. |

Boom deflection swing out can cause havocOne of the most basic errors when lifting heavy loads on long booms is the swing out that can occur due to deflection on a loaded boom, causing the load to swing out once it clears the ground. Here is one of the worst cases we have seen. |

Islands in the SkyThis arty film featuring a number of Genie boom lifts rented from United Rentals, was sent in by several readers. It is a ballet with booms but sadly none of the actors are wearing harnesses and it includes a number of bad practices. So a bad video in terms of setting an example. Otherwise nicely done and different, So after a good deal of deliberation we have included it for your interest. We wonder if United explained to these people that they should wear a harness for their own safety? |
