South East region, UK


Nationwide Platforms is seeking an experienced Regional Director to cover the South East region of the UK.  Reporting to the Managing Director you will drive revenue and profitability within the region whilst maintaining a P&L and providing leadership to an operations and sales team.

Responsibilities include:


  • Full responsibility for revenue generation, revenue growth and sales targets in the South East region
  • Provide effective leadership and support to the  regional team and develop them to become effective leaders in their business unit and professional in all aspects
  • Ensure that the expectations of the business are clearly understood in regard to the customer service, operational efficiency and financial targets to ensure regional targets are being achieved at all times
  • Prepare and communicate regular collective business, financial & KPI performance updates and objectives for managers and staff in the region
  • Define and agree annual regional business objectives with their team with regards to revenue and service delivery targets that generate the business and financial results consistent with the overall UK and Group long-term business objectives
  • Work closely with the Regional Sales Team & Business Development Team to establish potential current & future customer requirements and project opportunities, and align that with product and resource, ensuring the region is correctly positioned to deliver its operational KPI’s, service levels and financial targets
  • Continually evaluate and ensure that the optimum hire and transport rates are being achieved against business expectation, prevailing market rate and asset utilisation, balancing the optimum revenue with securing high volume customers, orders, or projects
  • Ensure all additional revenue streams at depot level are capitalised and establish measurable objectives where they fall below business expectations
  • Continually  analyse all costs at every level ensuring managers are aware of their budgetary constraints and remain within them, ensuring all unexpected or additional costs are justified and authorise
  • Analyse and evaluate all key operational performance indicators and establish measurable objectives and time scales to improve where they full below business expectations
  • Review and assist in the resolution of customer invoice disputes as required, maintaining credits to a minimum
  • Continually review and optimise the structure, headcount, costs, vehicles, utilisation and assets in the region to obtain maximum operational efficiencies, maximum returns and maximum ROCE performance
  • Prepare & Communicate regional business performance reports as requested ensuring that the status of all projects and key activities is understood by the UK Senior Management team
  • Be a point of escalation for all operational issues highlighted by any part of the business and swiftly rectify to the customers satisfaction
  • Increase financial performance regionally through continued growth in sustainable profitable revenues from current sales channels, and through the development and exploitation of new sales opportunities
  • Establish individual targets and sales objectives to source, qualify and secure new customers whilst maintaining current relationships and minimising customer attrition
  • Ensure the application of an effective pricing strategy to maintain profitability and incremental returns on capital
  • Improve profitability through the implementation of cross-selling and up-selling of associated products and services
  • Work in conjunction with Lavendon Business Units to ensure a joined up and optimum approach to the management of operational activities
  • Work in co-operation with Lavendon Support Units in order to exploit the full capabilities of the overall Company and in order to ensure the application of group strategies and objectives. 

The ideal candidate will be/have:


  • Graduate, or equivalent and/or appropriate professional qualification
  • MBA calibre (or substantial relevant business experience at a senior level) Proven track record of working at executive / board level in a revenue focussed, fast paced, change orientated business - Or  Proven track record in B2B management environment possessing strong leadership skills and strategic ability
  • Construction sector experience is of interest but not essential
  • Proven ability to influence, facilitate and build relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Numerate and literate with a strong ability to analyse, diagnose and implement business improvement plans
  • Previous working knowledge of similar sized organisations support function dimensions
  • Demonstrable understanding of P&L financials.
