The first Giraf Track crawler mounted boom lift fitted with an operators cab has gone to work in the UK.
The standard model was displayed at Apex in 2008 and Vertikal Days in 2009, however the first unit sold in the UK was ordered by Cropmech, the Devon based telehandler rental company and specialist contractor, with a superstructure mounted operators cab.
That unit has been delivered and has already started work. The unit includes a number of attachments including a 400kg capacity work platform that offers a working height of up to 20 metres and a chassis mount dozer blade that can level the unit up on sloping ground while acting as an anchor on steeper slopes.
The unit can also be fitted with forks, making this a 360 degree crawler mounted telehandler, or a winch and boom nose, turning it in to a small crane. The Giraf is based on a Merlo telehandler superstructure and a heavy Caterpillar excavator chassis.
Cropmech has purchased this unit with the utility market in mind where rough terrain capability and a decent lift capacity are much appreciated, as is the versatility of being able to switch between aerial lift, telehandler and crane.
