National Crane launches 55 ton boom truck

National Crane has introduced its largest boom truck to date, the 55 ton NBT 50 Series – at the ICUEE show in Louisville, Kentucky

There are two models in the series, the NBT 55, with a 55 ton capacity, and the 50 ton NBT 50.

A choice of two boom options are available, either a 102 ft/31 metre or a 128 ft/39 metre both of which are available with optional 25 ft – 45 ft (7.5m – 13.6m) telescopic boom extension. A 31ft/9.4 metre boom extension will also be available for the shorter boom.

Both cranes boast fully integrated machine control and LMI, for increased operator flexibility with improved maintenance and troubleshooting.

New electric-over-hydraulic controls are said to offer more precise control when lifting loads and enable easy tuning of controls to accommodate operator preferences.

The cranes feature two-stage, 24 ft/7.3m beam and jack outriggers with rated load charts for three positions - retracted - mid-span and full extension. Outrigger position sensors are also new on this model and alert operators when the outriggers are not in the correct position.

The National NBT 50 series is equipped with the new Manitowoc standard cab, which is now installed on a number of National Crane, Grove and Manitowoc crane models. The cab offers improved visibility and ergonomics, while helping with transition from crane to crane if operating several Manitowoc brands within a fleet.

Brian Peretin, vice president of sales for National Crane, said: “The NBT50 represents the pinnacle of machine performance. It combines the latest in both hydraulic and electronic machine control. It is also our new flagship series with greater capacities to meet customer needs.”

Other products on the Manitowoc stand at ICUEE include:
A National Crane 1100 series mounted on a Prinoth Go-Tract 3000 crawler carrier with 161ft/40 metre maximum tip height and aerial work platform.
