Speedy Hire, the UK’s largest general rental company has appointed Michael Averill as a new non-executive director effective immediately.

Michael Averill

Until his recent retirement Averill was chief executive of Shanks Group, one of Europes largest waste management companies. He joined Shanks when it acquired Rechem Environmental in 1991 and has been group CEO since 1994.

Averill also holds non executive directorships at Care UK and TDG, David Wallis, chairman of Speedy Hire said: “On behalf of the Company I am delighted to welcome Michael Averill to the Board. Michael brings with him a new range of skills and experience which will be invaluable and we look forward to his contribution.”
