Blumenbecker sells Hubmeister

German aerial lift manufacturer and service company Blumenbecker Technik has sold its Hubmeister truck mounted lift manufacturing business to Zweiweg Verwaltung, part of the Zagro group.

The deal includes the rights to the Hubmeister product range and Blumenbecker’s production and assembly subsidiary in northern Italy. No details of the transaction have been disclosed.

The Blumenbecker plant in Bad Lauchstädt, Germany, which was involved in the Hubmeister production, has been closed following the sale. The company will continue to provide service, parts and full product support for Hubmeister products and other aerial work platforms, including Giraffe and MBB aerial work platforms for which it owns the brand rights.

Blumenbecker managing director Ralf Herzog said: "The business was no longer profitable for us. We are pleased to have found in Zweiweg a competent partner who can continue the Hubmeister brand and make good use of our Italian production for its products.The employees in Bad Lauchstädt affected by the closure were offered jobs in other areas of the company. While our Blumenbecker Technik service business for work platforms will be expanded.”

Zweiweg was established in 1940 and has been part of the Zagro group since 2006, and specialises in converting a wide range of vehicles, including pickups, transporters, Unimogs, construction machinery and trucks of all weight classes for use on rails. The group comprises four divisions: Zweiweg, Zagro Bahn und Baumaschinen based in Bad Rappenau near Heilbronn, Schörling Rail Tech in Sehnde and shunting locomotive manufacturer Gmeiner Lokomotiven based in Mosbach.
