New wind speed sensor from Mantracourt

UK technology provider Mantracourt has launched the T24 Wireless Wind Speed sensing system for cranes and lifting equipment.

The new ‘out of the box ready solution’ comprises a sensor, with wireless transmitter and wind speed display. It accurately measures and monitors wind speeds and displays the data for the operator, with pre-set alarms when specific speeds are reached. It is intended for use on tower, All Terrain and crawler cranes. The in cab display shows a rolling average wind speed which is updated regularly of when wind speeds change significantly. The display, which has an optional backlight, can be toggled between metres per second and miles per hour, measuring wind speeds from five to 125 miles per hour.

The wind speed sensor is mounted to the boom tip, with a pivot design to ensure that it always remains upright. It uses a low power mode between transmissions to maximise battery life in the field, whilst offering wireless coverage range of up to 800 metres.

T24 Wireless Wind Speed System

Sales and marketing manager Kelly Voysey said: "This new piece of kit has been developed in direct response to demand for a wireless wind speed solution which complies to the Radio Equipment Directive. We've worked hard to develop a system that runs uninterrupted and reliably for as long as possible. The new kit can provide battery life - using two standard alkaline D Cells - in excess of 12 months, when constantly on."

"Another feature which will undoubtedly prove useful to our customers is the internal buzzer and relay which can be configured to different trigger points to control external equipment. For example when wind speeds rise above an assigned limit an alarm can be configured to sound a buzzer and trigger a beacon to alert users."
