New MD for Omme

Danish aerial lift manufacturer Omme Lift has appointed a new managing director - Axel Thøgersen – the first non Lorentsen in 112 years.

The move is the first step towards the gradual retirement of the current directors and owners, Harry and Torben Lorentsen.

Thøgersen, 47, joined the company this week, from automotive supplier Nissens where he has been director of operational strategy for the past eight months. Prior to that was a general manager/director at Grundfos, having joined the company at the end of 2006. He began his career with Danfoss joining its graduate/management training programme in 1998, before moving to Danish IT company Netcompany in 2000 and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk four years later.

“Becoming a part of Omme Lift and being able to build on the strong foundation that Harry, Torben and the organisation have created is a fantastic opportunity. I look forward to develop Omme Lift further together with its many committed employees,” said Thøgersen.

Harry Lorentsen will continue as area sales manager for Germany and the Netherlands to ensure a smooth transition for the new managing director by the end of the year. From 2019 and onwards he will proceed as an active member of the Omme Lift board and as a part of the management of Omme Lift Germany.

Torben Lorentsen will also gradually step down from his day to day management duties. He will continue as area sales manager for France, Norway and Sweden until 2020 and after that he will focus on a role of board director and a part of the management team of Omme Lift France.

A Lorentsen has been at the helm of Omme Lift for 112 years, and while this tradition now comes to an end, the Lorentsen ownership will continue, and the family remains strongly represented in the company.
