Paul Evans 1965 - 2018

We have received the sad news that Paul Evans of Liebherr Great Britain passed away at home on Tuesday 27th February after losing a year long battle with cancer. He was only 52.

Northamptonshire born and bred, he served his apprenticeship with Blackwood Hodge as a welder fabricator, later moving to the Manitowoc in 1989 in that role. His mechanical aptitude and ability quickly led to a move into general repairs and for 23 years he travelled worldwide for the Manitowoc service department, becoming well known and widely respected by customers across the world.

In 2012 he joined the Liebherr service department in the UK, supporting crawler crane customers and for the past three years was based in the technical department in a high profile role supporting both crawler and mobile crane customers.

A statement from Liebherr GB said: “Paul’s no-nonsense, blunt but humorous approach to every situation, his willingness to take responsibility and lead and his outstanding engineering capability earned him huge respect from colleagues and customers alike and his passing will be a big loss to the industry.”

His funeral will be held at 11:00 on Friday 16th March at The Counties Crematorium, Milton Malsor, Northampton.

He specifically asked that colleagues and friends not to ‘waste money on flowers’ and instead make any contributions to Cancer Research UK at: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pwevans.
