Serious crush incident in UK

A man was airlifted to hospital today from a residential build site in Plymouth, Devon after hitting an overhead obstacle.

If the reports are correct, the man was driving a small self-propelled boom lift towards a low overhead entrance tunnel and came into contact with the building he was due to pass under. We must stress that this has not been corroborated by a second source, but does appear to be confirmed by the photograph we have received.

The man is reported to be in a serious condition. We will of course update this when we learn more. The Health & Safety Executive is investigating.

The boom lift was passing or about to pass through this entrance

This is terrible news,However,The basics are,
look where you are going and pay attention at all times,
Its probably the same old, same old.
Complete lack of attention and thinking its ok,
Things like this don't happen to me,
It would be interesting to see if and when his IPAF has or had expired, and see if refreshers are maybe needed on a more regular basis,
The main point I am making is
An accident can happen to anyone at anytime and we must never take anything for granted,
I generally hope the gentleman is ok and he gets well soon

I do not want this to sound like a sales pitch but, had SanctuaryZone been fitted to this boom lift, there may have been just some damaged paintwork! SanctuaryZone is still the primary Tier 1 anti-entrapment system on the market - easily retrofitted to boom lifts - old and new
