All-new luffer from Raimondi

Raimondi Cranes is launching an all new 18 tonne capacity luffing jib tower crane, the LR330.

The LR330 features a new triangular jib design, with six possible lengths ranging from 30 metres to the maximum of 60 metres, at which it has a jib tip capacity of 3,300kg in Ultra-lift mode. The jib luffs from 15 degrees to its maximum 85 degrees in 67.5 seconds. The new shape is said to provide improved storage possibilities for transport, while offering a reduced out of service radius.

A choice of two towers is available - the new 2.1 metre wide GR5H tower or the 2.3 metre GR6 tower series, all of which are available in various lengths for maximum versatility. A new twin motor slewing mechanism has a maximum speed of 0.8 revolutions a minute. The crane is said to be easier and faster to erect and includes numerous work at height protection features.

The LR330 is equipped with a standard 80kW hoist with an option of a more powerful 110kW unit, both of which are rigged in two fall configuration with rope capacities of 650 and 1,000 metres respectively. A third hoist can be rigged with four falls and has 980 metres of rope storage. Maximum line speed with the 110KW hoist is 250 metres a minute and all winches can be equipped with a secondary emergency brake.

The new crane also features an all new Safety Control System with three different power and speed configurations that can be selected to best suit the type of work being carried out to make the crane easier and less stressful to operate. The system incorporates a number of sensors that monitor the crane’s movements and loads, alerting the operator of any issues.

Technical director Domenico Ciano said: “Raimondi has realised our value proposition through research, trials and finally development. We are proud to present a technologically advanced, superior performance European-built luffing crane to the market. The LR330 is productive, durable, strong and efficient. As the flagship crane of our new luffing range, we have incorporated a breakthrough equilateral triangular jib design to enhance several different aspects of the machine. Structurally optimised, this innovative layout allows for improved packaging and transportation, simplifies the construction phase and reduces wind impact on the jib, thereby reducing the out-of-service radius.”

“Crane operators can now choose between three different configurations, enabling a change in parameters related to the movement speeds and dynamic loadings. This functionality allows the operators to align the crane closer to their specific needs. Further, to reduce pressure on the operator and simultaneously increase the overall level of onsite safety, the safety control system’s installed sensors monitor all of the crane’s movements and the load, supporting the operator as site hazards approach. Alerting him with alarms and direct intervention, the LR330 is both agile and intelligent.”

The first cranes have been pre-sold to dealers that have seen the crane on test, with the first unit due to be shipped to Bennetts tower cranes in the UK next month.
