Palazzani for new Cairo museum

The new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which is due to open this summer, has taken delivery of a 25 metre Palazzani Ragno TZX 250 spider lift.

The twin telescopic boomed TZX 250, made in co-operation with Pagliero - provides an outreach of 11.65 metres at an up and over height of just under 12 metres - with 80kg in the platform or 8.5 metres with the maximum platform capacity of 200kg. The tracked spider lift is an Eco AC/DC electric powered model, with the electric motor powered by either 220 volt mains or an onboard battery pack.

Overall width is 980mm, with an overall height of just under two metres, and a length of just over five metres with the basket in place. The working outrigger footprint has a narrow set up width of 2.8 metres or the maximum 3.1 metres both by 4.28 metres.

Palazzani Ragno TZX 250

The new machine will take care of maintenance inside the museum, which is being constructed at the edge of the desert plateau between the pyramids and Cairo. When completed it will be the largest archaeological museum in the world, covering an area of 500,000 square metres. It will contain over 100,000 exhibits, including some never seen by the public. 24,000 square metres of space will be reserved for the permanent exhibitions, with space for research, a children’s museum, conference and education facilities, a large conservation centre and extensive gardens. The collections of the museum include the Tutankhamen collection, currently housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and the Solar Boat that is now housed beside the pyramids.
