Kranlyft adds Klaas cranes

German aluminium truck and trailer mounted crane manufacturer Klaas has appointed Kranlyft as its exclusive crane distributor for the UK, Ireland and Sweden.

The Klaas cranes offer maximum capacities of up to six tonnes at six metre radius, with tip heights of up to 51 metres. It can also take 350kg to a radius of 41 metres. The Klaas cranes come with a wide range of attachments, including extending offsetable jibs and extensions, 360° continuous slew, and remote controls.

The cranes are all equipped with the company’s ASC control system which monitors actual outrigger set up, load on the hook and stability during operation, with readout on the remote controller. The cranes also have their own diesel power units for lower fuel consumption and independent operation.

Kranlyft has also expanded the UK sales team with the promotion of Simon Marnock to support the Klaas products. Marnock joined Kranlyft as a field service engineer in 2011 following more than 23 years as a service engineer with crane rental company King Lifting. The company will display the Klaas products for the first time at Vertikal Days in May.

Vertikal Comment

This move follows the loss of Böcker aluminium crane when it decided to set up a direct sale operation last year. Kranlyft put Böcker cranes firmly on the map, to the point where it felt it made sense to take over the sales and support operation itself. The company will clearly be looking to achieve similar results with the Klaas product line, which directly competes. It also gives the company which is best known as the European master distributor for Maeda cranes, the opportunity to add Klaas truck mounted lifts to its product line, which include EN280 compliant work platform attachments for the cranes.
