Antipodean acquisition for Kinshofer

Loader crane attachment manufacturer Kinshofer has acquired excavator attachment manufacturer Doherty Group of New Zealand in an all share purchase deal.

The Doherty management team will remain with the company with co-owner and managing director Jeremy Doherty continuing as managing director.
Doherty was established in 2001 and develops and markets attachments and equipment, such as quick fit couplers, grabs, and pipe grabs for excavators and telehandlers, aimed at small to mid sized contractors looking to improve equipment utilisation.

The acquisition adds new product lines to the Kinshofer range and also strengthens its distribution network in New Zealand and Australia. It also adds two local manufacturing bases with Doherty’s Tauranga, New Zealand, and Brisbane, Australia facilities.

Doherty will continue to develop and sell its products globally, in preparation of increased demand, the company will expand its sales and production staff “to ensure swift integration of the products throughout both organisations.”

Kinshofer chief executive Thomas Friedrich said: “Kinshofer continues its strategy of providing the industry with a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution of outstandingly engineered products to increase efficiency and, more importantly, the profitability of its customers. Acquiring Doherty group was the next step in our approach to be a local manufacturer in New Zealand and Australia.”
