The new welding robots use adaptive welding and a fully automatic conveyor system. The company is also introducing a welding robot at the HMF Welding Academy, in order to train young metalworkers and upskill existing employees. New weld analysis equipment has been added to ensure the quality of weld seams.

The new production line and tooling, is intended to help meet increased demand for larger HMF cranes, so the company has also invested in new equipment and processes to increase production of boom and jib sections, along with hydraulic tubing, this includes a new fully automatic hydraulic pipe bending machine. Finally the testing capacity for larger cranes has been increased by 50 percent.

The new production line has also involved the recruitment of additional staff, and the addition of new office space, which has also made room for an expansion of Research & Development capacity.

Chief executive Brian Stage said: “Quality is very important to us, which means that all main processes are gathered here in Denmark, where we can answer for all processes. This is why we also invest heavily in capacity and technology to follow the demand long term. Lately we have invested in a brand-new production line for knuckle booms, where the optimised flow ensures that knuckle booms are ready manufactured in one single workflow, before sending them directly into the fully automatic paint facility.”

“At the same time as we are investing heavily in new processes, facilities and staff, it goes without saying that we also optimise where we can. For example, we have gone through our entire range of sub-suppliers, and among others we have changed from yellow chromate to zinc-nickel treatment on sub-components to further enhance quality, just as we ensure capacity with our sub-suppliers - among others by Northern Europe's most modern laser cutter.”
